i thought it would be neat to try to build a website and host it from my computer, i want to learn all this and not settle for wix or godaddy, and learn more about the internet this way, and really become part of it!!! but i don;t even know what he first step is… whats a "d-link" connection? how to i get it? does it cost money?what exactly are VPS, is it hosting sites like go-daddy and wix?is what i am trying to do called a dedicated server?what to terms like DNS, IP, URI, and all the other crazy terms mean?is my internet connection (DSL, 1.5mbs download, .7 mbs upload) going to make accessing the site slow from other computers?whats a domain? is that thw websits name like http://www. GOOGLE .com?can someone explain all this in am easy to understand way, i do have an idea to how the internet works, but dont know any of the details.i do want the site to be public

Recently I had a bill from my web site host, their bill had increased, they had doubled the costs since the previous time. I tried to cancel my account with them with the aim of finding another host, however they say that I need to pay my bill in order to cancel the account. As it;s an outstanding bill, this is the way their service works they tell me.So have I lost the use of my domain name until I get their cooperation? I guess I have lost all the data on my site, since they refuse to let me access it via FTP until I pay them.Upon searching for more info about this host I find many people in similar and different predicaments, it appears they are known for their underhand tactics.So, how can I get my Url back!

I have been told that my unlimited hosting account is not unlimited at all and i am in danger of going over the limit and my account being suspended if i don;t upgrade to dedicated server or vps. what i want to know is how much website traffic would i get in 100gb hosting account. when i say how much traffic or visitors will it take before i reach my limit of 100gb. it is hundreds per month to go any higher. thanks.

Hello and thank you for visiting, Actually i have been reading and reading over many different type of reviews from many different hosting sites but i still can;t pick what would be good. Im currently building a Social Community website and for that reason i prefer to have a site that isn;t too expensive due to my financials but also has the scalability to increase over time and also has as least downtime as possible. My colleague also suggested that i make sure they have a good system in which i can follow the people visiting the site, much like trafficking.
